William married Mary (---), whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), before 1642 when their first child was born;3 he married (2), as her 2nd husband, Sarah Marvin, daughter of Matthew Marvin and Elizabeth (---), after 1676.4,5,6

William was prominent in Stratford, named a deputy in 1667-82, 1684-7, and 1692. He was Commissioner for Stratford, 1671-87 and 1689-97. He was also Commissioner for Woodbury, 1676-9. Called Lieutenant, Oct 1667; Captain, Stratford Trainband, Jun 1672; Second Military Officer, Fairfield County, Jun 1672; Captain, Fairfield County Troop, Nov 1673 & Oct 1675; Militia Committee, Jun 1672; War Committee, Aug 1673. His first wife is not known.

His will was dated 15 Dec 1702, proved 31 Dec 1702; named sons Daniel, Ebenezer, Zechariah, Josiah; daughters Sarah Wells, Elizabeth Rose; son Joshua Curtis; Jonathan the son of Jonathan Curtis.
