Sir Robert de Brus Knt., Earl of Carrick, son of Robert de Brus and Isabel de Clare, was born at Writtle, Essex, England, July 1243.1 He died in England while returning to Annandale, shortly before 4 April 1304,1 and was buried at Holm Cultram Abbey, Cumberland, Scotland.1

Robert married (1) Margaret of Carrick, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), about 1273;1 he married (2) Maud Fitz Alan, daughter of John Fitz Alan and Isabel de Mortimer, 19 September 1295;2 they were divorced by 19 May 1298;3,2 he married (3) Eleanor (---), whose parents are unknown (or not traced), after May 1299.
