John Plampin, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), died before 30 November 15631 when he was buried at Stoke by Nayland, Suffolk, England.1

John married an unknown first wife, say 1550;1 he married (2) Marion Okeley at Stoke by Nayland, 8 January 1560/61.1

Threlfall provides three more generations of Plampins, which I won't present here for lack of sufficient evidence.

As with the Stearns portion of his article, Threlfall provides no analysis or rationale for his conclusion that John Plampin, by an unknown wife, is the father of Dorothy who married Thomas Stearns, nor any for the other four children he assigns to John. We are asked to accept as authoritative his references: "1. Parish Registers. 2. Probate records. 3. Suffolk Green Books." In 1988, Neil Thompson shredded Threlfall's reputation as a genealogist in a blistering review of The Ancestry of Thomas Bradbury and His Wife Mary Perkins, for the same types of citation problems. It seems Mr. Threlfall did not take the criticism to heart.2,3
