Ensign Joseph Billings, son of William Billings and Hannah Sterry, was born at Stonington, Connecticut, 28 January 1691/921 and baptized there the next day.1 He died at Preston, Connecticut, 9 April 1763.1

Joseph married (1) Comfort (---), whose parents are unknown (or untraced), in 1711;1 he married (2) Sarah Larrabee, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), after 1740.1,2

Ensign Joseph Billings was ensign in the Second Preston Company 8 May 1729, deputy from Preston 9 October 1729 and later, and justice of the peace for New London County in May 1740.

His will was dated 23 June 1762 and proved 10 May 1763. In it he names:
grandchildren Simeon, James, Ame, Sarah and Mary Rouse,
grandchildren Sarah, Comfort, Ame, Nathaniel, and Reuben Babcock,
grandson Nathan Billings,
wife Sarah,
son Joseph, executor.3
